Solar Crisis – Futuristic sci-fi thriller with Matheson leading a save the Earth mission to the sun to stop a solar flash from annihilating the world. Fine visual effects and gripping story in space harmed by world pranks of poor boy Boyle who outrageously wants to weaken the mission. Cast includes Tim Matheson, Charlton Heston, Peter Boyle, and Annabel Schofield. (112 minutes,’90)

Barnyard – Excited zaniness set on a farm where, after sundown, the animals turn the barn into a rowdy nightclub. James is Otis, a young cow who is very mature, much to the disappointment of his dad, Ben Elliott, who keeps watch for predatory coyotes when the others party. Dom Irrera stands out as Duke the Dog. Cast includes Courtney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, David Koechner, and Laraine Newman. (90 minutes, 2006)

Black like Me – Powerful drama based on genuine history of a journalist who took drugs that permitted him to pass for black so he might undergo racial prejudice first hand. Some aspects of presentation are outdated, although subjects are still relevant. Cast includes James Whitmore, Roscoe Lee Browne, Lenka Petersen, Sorrell Booke, Will Geer, Al Freeman, and Raymond Jacques. (107 minutes,’64)
