Chris Hughes, Facebook co-founder, has released and launched his much-awaited social network called Jumo. Hughes had left Facebook in the year 2007 and had launched his soft social-networking website called Jumo in March last year. To start with, this website was merely a home page that featured a survey box which put forward a set of questions to the visitors of the website. Once submitting the answers, the visitors could also feed in their email address to receive more updates on the website.

Some more information on this website was revealed by the owner when he uncovered his thoughts in one of the social good summits in the New York city. He uncovered that he was deeply touched with the involvement of the online users in the Haiti earthquake which had hit in January 2010. This incidence let him believe that users today seek to involve and engage in the cause of their choices. And this led Hughes to build Jumo.

This website has been designed to help its users search, support and follow all the causes that they find important. Hughes further added that the user interface of Jumo is extremely user friendly and easy to use, understand and follow. Some people also say that it almost looks very similar to the interface at Facebook. Every page in the website lets you to explore more and follow your choices and preferences online.  It also lets you to discover many organizations over a period of time.

The website also lets you choose your issues or choices and also search through the list of all the projects in that issue to get your specific project. You can sort projects based on many criteria such as location. After choosing the projects of your choice, click “Done”. This action takes you to the homepage of that project where you can meet people who also share same choices as you do.

The website also helps you with a “Like” button, using which you can post your likes and dislikes on a particular video or news story based on a particular project of your likeness. Using the “Like” button, the users can also share the story on their profile pages. This also lets you to identify which of your friends hold the same attitude on the news story or the video and share feelings with each other. In addition to viewing the posted projects, a user can also add his or her project on the website. Hughes says that Juno is, indeed, a platform where people can create their profiles or even their organization page.

He says that Jumo is an effort to club together all social streams at one place, such as Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.
